James started styling in 2006,

but saw her career take off after moving to New York in 2008 where she studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She worked as a Fashion Editorial Assistant for Women’s Wear Daily where she developed a greater understanding of the industry. In addition, she has spent a number of seasons working for various designers during Mercedes-Benz/ New York Fashion Week and the showrooms of luxury brands such as Givenchy, Saint Laurent, and Valentino. In July 2012, James was recruited to work for J.Crew's still life and soft goods department.

Currently, James continues her work as a fashion stylist and works with Mr. Baldwin Style crafting the images for American brands such as Ralph Lauren, L.L. Bean, Nautica, and Vineyard Vines. Additionally, she uses her extensive fashion experience to bring editorial style into her personal clients’ everyday lives in an approachable and enjoyable way.

While working as a personal fashion stylist, she noticed that many of her wardrobe edits inevitably led to designing closets for her clients. Realizing the potential to serve her clients in an even greater way, James created a new high-end closet design branch to her business in 2020.

James has been featured in Architectural Digest & Apartment Therapy.
